Insights from complex ERP transformations

Technical readiness
doesn’t guarantee
business readiness.

One of the biggest misconceptions I continue to see in ERP transformations is believing that once the technology is ready, the organization is ready.

It isn’t.

I’ve worked on projects where development was complete, integrations were stable, testing metrics were green, and leadership believed they were ready for go-live.

Then Day 1 arrived.

The system worked.

The business struggled.

Business readiness isn’t training.

It’s operational confidence.

Readiness record05 checks before go-live

Before I consider an ERP implementation truly ready, I ask:

  1. 01

Are business leaders aligned on Day 1 responsibilities?

  2. 02

Have exceptions and edge cases been validated?

  3. 03

Are support teams prepared for production?

  4. 04

Have workarounds been documented and accepted?

  5. 05

Is the organization confident operating the new solution?

Technical readiness gets you to deployment.

Business readiness gets you to production.
